The law of 10,000
Filed in:

It takes, according to Bob Woolmer, 10,000 goes at something before you master it.

That's a lot of practice.

For me this underlines how important practice is for club cricket. As amateur players we are all limited for how much time we can give, but performance on the field is directly related to how much skills training you do. How motivated are you to improve?

As long as it is good quality skills training.

So if you are going to do anything this coming season, make sure it involves knocking a few more off that 10,000 target with an extra practice a week.

Want to gain bulletproof mental toughness to score runs and take wickets under pressure? PitchVision Academy has a complete training course to build up your confidence, concentration and skyrocket your success.

And what if the 10,000 hours of practice has not been the right practice? Is that not a big reason that many promising cricketers fail to reach the top? Practice makes Permanent thats for sure.

Cricket Basic Number 45: Work with Your Nerves

45. Don’t try and shut off your nervousness or emotions. It is better to recognise these feelings and what causes them and realise that the emotion is part of what makes the game so great. Think of nerves as excitement, the anticipation of a challenge, use this to help you focus on the basics of the task at hand.
