CRICKET JOBS: Director of Cricket - Ealing CC (UK) *PREMIUM ADVERT*

Ealing  CC,  a  leading  Middlesex  Premier  League  Club,  is  looking  to  appoint  a  Director   of  Cricket  who  will  be  responsible  for  the  day  to  day  running  of  Senior  and  Junior   Cricket  at  the  Club.  The  successful  candidate  will  need  to  build  upon  the  foundations   that  are  in  place  and  continue  to  grow  and  improve  cricket  at  the  Club.  A  critical   element  of  the  job  will  to  maintain  the  link  between  the  Junior  and  Senior  sections  of   the  Club,  ensuring  Colts  are  being  developed  and  integrated  into  Senior  cricket.

 

As  a  focal  point  of  the  Club,  applicants  need  to  have  good  social,  organisational,  man   management  and  coaching  skills.  Although  not  necessary,  some  entrepreneurial  and   business  skills  would  also  be  of  added  benefit.  The  successful  candidate  will  ideally   have  played  first  class  or  minor  counties  cricket  and  it  would  be  preferable,  albeit  not   essential,  if  they  were  available  to  play  Senior  Cricket  on  Saturdays.  

ABOUT  EALING  CC    

The  Club  has  7  Senior  Men’s  teams  playing  League  cricket  on  Saturday  and  a  Women’s   team  to  be  entered  in  2016  in  the  North  London  Women’s  Cricket  League  and  the   Middlesex  Women’s  Cricket  Championship.  The  Club  plays  in  the  Middlesex  Premier   League,  having  won  it  for  7  years  2005  to  2011  but  not  since.  The  Club  is  active  in   National  Cup  competitions,  winning  the  National  T20  Cup  in  2011  and  2015  and   reaching  the  final  of  the  National  Club  Championship  in  2010  and  2014.     The  Club  also  enters  the  Middlesex  Development  League  (basically  an  U21   competition)  and  the  U19  National  competition.     At  the  Junior  level,  the  Club  has  around  400  Colts,  including  nearly  100  Girls,  ranging   from  6  to  17  years  of  age.  The  Boys  Colts  play  in  Middlesex  Colts  Association  (MCA)   Leagues  at  U10,  U11  (x  2  teams),  U13  (x  3  teams),  U15  (x  2  teams)  and  U17  and  also  play   friendly  matches  at  U8  and  U9.  The  Girls  play  in  the  MCA  Seaxe  League  at  U11,  U13   and  U15.     The  Club  has  been  awarded  the  Victor  Ludorum  trophy  as  the  most  successful  Colts   Club  in  Middlesex  in  4  of  the  last  5  years.     The  Club  runs  Academies  for  Senior  Boys,  Junior  Boys  and  Girls  to  assist  the   development  of  the  most  talented  players.     The  Club’s  playing  facilities  include  2  grounds,  with  a  third  ground  coming  on  stream   in  2016.

At  our  main  Corfton  Road  ground,  we  have  a  large  square  with  20  wickets,  5  lanes  of   artificial  practice  nets,  two  bowling  machines  plus  a  commitment  to  provide  all  other   equipment  deemed  necessary.  We  also  have  a  smaller  ground  in  Hanwell  (formerly   Hanwell  Cricket  Club)  with  a  9  wicket  square,  but  no  nets.  And  we  expect  to  be  able  to  use  a  new  ground,  Popesfield,  in  Ealing  in  2016.    

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Senior  Cricket    

  • Create  a  positive  and  enjoyable  playing  environment  for  all  playing  members  
  • Lead  a  positive  cricket  culture  of  continual  commitment  and  improvement  
  • Develop  a  pre-­‐‑season  schedule  with  a  focus  on  coaching,  fitness  and   development  of  players  
  • Implement  a  professional  training  programme  that  will  continue  on  from  pre-­‐‑ season  
  • Coordinate  all  senior  training  sessions  
  • Oversee  player  selection  in  all  senior  teams  
  • Assist  and  be  involved  in  the  recruitment  of  senior  players  
  • Ensure  Colts  are  integrated  effectively  into  Senior  Cricket  
  • Provide  guidance  and  mentorship  to  all  Senior  captains    
  • Present  an  end  of  season  review  and  recommendations  for  the  next  season  
  • Organise  and  manage  the  winter  nets  for  senior  players  
  • Attend  the  Club’s  end  of  season  Players  Awards  evening    

 

Colts  Cricket    

The  Club  has  a  strong  Colts  management  structure  and  the  Director  of  Cricket   will  liaise  and  be  involved  closely  with  Colts  Managers  in  the  following  areas:    

  • Oversee  and  play  an  active  part  in  the  Colts  coaching  at  the  Club,  including   making  any  necessary  changes  to  the  structure  of  the  management  and   coaching  of  Colts  Cricket    
  • Develop,  in  conjunction  with  Colts  Managers  and  other  coaches,  a  training   programme  for  each  age  group  and  incorporate  this  into  the  Club’s  Colts   coaching  manual  
  • Manage  the  professional  coaches  employed  by  the  Club  and  ensure  the   training  programme  is  implemented  effectively  and  within  an  agreed  budget  
  • Ensure  a  safe  and  friendly  environment  for  all  Colts  
  • In  conjunction  with  Colts  Managers,  decide  on  who  should  be  invited  to  the   Boys  and  Girls  Winter  Academies  and  who  should  be  nominated  for   Middlesex  Borough  Cricket  
  • Oversee  the  Boys  and  Girls  Academy  activities  in  both  summer  and  winter   and  ensure  that  ECC  Academy  Cricket  is  delivering  high  quality  cricket   training  appropriate  for  elite  players  
  • Present  an  end  of  season  review  and  recommendations  for  the  next  season  
  • Attend  pre  and  post  season  Colts  Managers  meeting  
  • Attend  the  annual  Colts  Presentation  evening  
  • Organise  the  Club’s  involvement  in  any  MCA  Winter  Indoor  Leagues    

 
Other    

  • Organise  and  run  the  Sunday  Coaching  Club  that  runs  from  April  until   August  
  • Organise  and  manage  the  holiday  courses  run  by  the  Club  in  the  Easter  and   Summer  holidays  and  during  the  Summer  term  half  term  break  
  • Act  as  Chairman  of  the  Club’s  Cricket  Committee  
  • Manage  the  Club’s  groundsman  and  ensure  that  the  Club’s  playing  and   training  facilities  are  in  good  order  
  • Assist  in  the  process  of  ensuring  the  Club  remains  Clubmark  accredited  
  • Oversee  the  Club’s  participation  in  the  Middlesex  Development  League  and   U19  ECB  National  Championship  
  • Liaise  with  Ealing  Borough  Cricket  Development  Group  and Active Ealing  to support  cricket  development  activities  in  the  London  Borough  of  Ealing,   including  London  Youth  Games  and  coaching  in  local  schools  
  • Create  a  successful  club  atmosphere  between  playing  and  non-­‐‑playing   members  of  the  Club  
  • Be  the  contact  point  for  all  cricket  related  matters  with  the  Club’s  governing   bodies  and  the  local  community  

 
   The  successful  candidate  should  ideally  to  hold  a  UKCC  Level  3  qualification  UKCC   (UKCC  Level  2  qualification  is  required  as  a  minimum),  to  be  a  member  of  the  ECBCA,   to  hold  current  First  Aid  and  Safeguarding  Certificates  and  to  undergo  a  DBS  check
 

The  Director  of  Cricket  will  be  remunerated  with  a  competitive  basic  salary  and   incentives  based  upon  agreed  KPI’s  including  those  linked  to  the  success  of  the  Holiday   courses  and  the  Sunday  Coaching  Club.      

The  Director  of  Cricket  will  be  able  to  use  the  Club’s  facilities  for  individual  coaching   lessons  (players  do  not  have  to  be  Ealing  CC  members).  Ealing  CC  will  expect  to   receive  a  percentage  of  the  fees  paid  for  such  lessons.
