CRICKET JOBS: Host Liaison - ECB (UK)

The primary point of liaison between ICC and the Host on all operational deliverables relating to the staging of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

Role Context / Organisation Structure
The England & Wales Cricket Board is hosting the ICC Champions Trophy and the Women’s World Cup in June and July of 2017.
                         
The ICC CT 2017 is an elite 50 over cricket event for the top eight one day international nations in the MRF ICC ODI Rankings. The tournament has been staged previously in Bangladesh (1998), Kenya (2000), Sri Lanka (2002), England (2004), India (2006), South Africa (2009) and England (2013).
 
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 is the pinnacle of the Women’s 50 over game and will have the top eight one day international nations, as reflected in the MRF ICC ODI rankings, competing to lift the coveted World Cup on 23 July 2017 at Lord’s cricket ground in London.
 
Both events are a great opportunity to showcase cricket at its absolute best and a fantastic opportunity for the England & Wales Cricket Board to put on an amazing event on behalf of the ICC. It’s a really exciting time to be involved in the sport of cricket and a great opportunity for the right person to build on their skills in international events.
 
The CT fixtures will be played at The Oval in London, Edgbaston in Birmingham and Cardiff in South Wales.  The WWC will be played at Bristol, Somerset, Leicester and Derby with the Final at Lord’s in London.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  •     General liaison role with all relevant ICC departments involved in an event on event operational matters.
  •     Event planning with the Host Member in regards to the deliverables set out in the Host Agreement.
  •     Maintenance of a Host Agreement approvals schedule to monitor adherence by ICC and the Host on specific deliverables
  •     Draft and maintain via regular progress meetings an overall event operational plan.
  •     Provision of a monthly event update report and operational risk assessment
  •     Manage venue inspection tours, draft, collate and circulate post inspection reports and manage issue follow-up as required.
  •     Manage the Members Participation Agreement submissions as required:
  •     Approval of team travel arrangements
  •     Approval of team kit samples
  •     Maintain updates to squad lists
  •     Liaise with ICC Cricket Operations and Development departments as necessary on player eligibility assessments
  •     Management of submissions of other items / information as may be necessary (dietary information, flags, anthems, photographs, biographies, squad terms etc.)
  •     Distribution of individual team itineraries, tournament handbook
  •     Provision of guidance / direction to the Host & host venues on permitted activities. Approval of activities within venues according to agreed guidelines and maintenance of full record of approved activity
  •     Liaison with ICC Events Delivery Manager to ensure all event squad members, match officials and ICC officials’ ground logistics are organised and full daily itineraries drafted.
  •     Oversight of process to provide daily allowances to teams and match officials
  •     Liaison with ICC Sponsor Operations Manager to determine and document locations for all stakeholder ticket and hospitality entitlements.
  •     Coordination of integration of event activities where necessary, including scheduling pre-event activities for teams
  •     Liaison with the Host on implementation of the event ticketing policy to ensure all ICC requirements and objectives are met
  •     Draft scope of services for RFP documentation as required.
  •     Part of review panel for submissions and provision of recommendations for selection of event suppliers
  •     Development of event accreditation policy in conjunction with the host and selected service supplier and coordination of ICC requirements for accreditation
  •     Manage the finalisation of the pre-event team activities schedule.
  •     Development of scope of event sportainment programme in conjunction with the host and selected service supplier
  •     Identification of opportunities for innovative and relevant event enhancements and implementation of those initiatives
  •     Management of procurement of all player awards and prizes
  •     Draft event specific protocol documents (venue check-lists, presentation documents, replay screen directives etc.) in conjunction with event functional leads as required
  •     Coordinate finalisation of the match day run order.
  •     Oversee production of tournament handbook for teams and match officials.
  •     Oversee production of ICC staff event handbook.
  •     Carry out pre-event briefings as required.
  •     Draft as required and collate, edit and circulate the post event report.
  •     Liaison with Host and Finance department on finalisation of the event accounts within agreed time period.


Person Specification                   

  •     Educated to a degree level or equivalent with professional qualification.
  •     Good knowledge of cricket and preferably cricket events.
  •     A sound understanding of event management with at least 4 years’ experience of working in events.
  •     Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.
  •     Proficient in the use of MS Office.
  •     Strong interpersonal and people management skills – ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels.
  •     Strong professional verbal and written communications skills.
  •     Motivated, enthusiastic attitude and able to work creatively on own initiative.
  •     A passion for sports and brands.
  •     Interest in working in a small team, willingness to be an operator.
  •     Appreciation of working with different cultures – understand the importance of teamwork.
  •     Flexible to adapt to changing priorities and respond to tight deadlines.


 
Additional information
This role will involve some travel and will require flexibility within the normal working day and working week.
