Lord’s Cricket Ground, the home of cricket and owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (“MCC”), is renowned worldwide for staging international cricket matches with up to 28,500 spectators in attendance. Lord’s is a stunning venue steeped in history and charm. From the grandeur of the Long Room in the Grade II* listed Pavilion, to the modernity and style of the J.P. Morgan Media Centre, the Ground offers a dazzling array of possibilities for events of all types.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Pastry Kitchen for a talented Pastry Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef Pastry with the continuing delivery of cakes, desserts and pastries whilst maintaining the high standards that are expected by guests of Lord’s.

The role varies greatly day to day as the Pastry Team caters for small, private events up to international matches. Key duties include managing and developing the casual Pastry Team’s creative style, whilst maintaining an exciting and motivating environment. The role with also assist the Head Chef Pastry with the seasonal menu design and costing, and ensuring adherence to MCC and legislative hygiene and safety standards.

Required skills and experience

With a passion for food, the ideal candidate will have gained his or her experience in a fine dining environment and will also have worked in a multi-site operation, ideally in a sporting venue. Some experience of managing and developing staff is essential as well as good working knowledge of budgets and financial planning. Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are also essential. An NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Food Hygiene is also required.

Working knowledge of MS Office is also essential, along with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads – both your own and that of your team. Significant flexibility is required for attendance on match days and working extended hours, including weekends.
