The Broadcast and Media Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating the management of all ECB’s broadcast and media operational requirements and to deliver the highest possible standards in these areas. The job holder will be responsible for delivering a broadcast & media operations strategy that provides a smooth and seamless service which is in line with all arrangements and agreements in place.

Role Context / Organisation Structure
The Events Director undertook a thorough Safety and Security review at the end of the 2015 season which lasted a number of months until early 2016. One of the recommendations of that review was to create a Head of Safety and Security and align accreditation within this department. This gave rise to the formation of the Broadcast & Media Operations role. The role combines areas which have previously been separated in order to provide a more consistent operational approach and align areas in the best interests of the business.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities – job specific
 

  •     Delivery of a long term ECB Broadcast and Media Operations strategy.
  •     Delivering operational requirements for ECB overseas broadcast partners and their supply requirements.
  •     Point of contact for all First Class Counties relating to Broadcast and Media Operations.
  •     Working alongside the ECB Head of Cricket Operations (First Class Counties) regarding televised fixtures and scheduling.
  •     ECB Match Management duties both International and Domestic.
  •     Develop and maintain key working relationships with ECB Rights Holders and ECB Non-Rights Holders.
  •     Work with all broadcast partners to ensure all technical requirements are in place as required.
  •     Work closely with the ECB Commercial department to ensure all Broadcast and Media Partner requirements are delivered in accordance with the agreements in place to a standard commensurate with cricket’s position as a major national and international spectator sport.
  •     Keep all venue plans updated with camera positions ensuring that on match days all appropriate partners have a copy of the plan.
  •     Manage match day operational elements with all press partners, written, digital and radio.
  •     Ensure all operational needs of the media (press box) and photographers are fit for purpose and addressed both prior to match day and on match day across the various venues hosting international and domestic matches.
  •     Overseeing access to  venues by non-rights holding broadcasters ensuring strict controls are in place and are adhered to
  •     Be responsible for primary liaison with all TV and Radio Broadcasters
  •     Ensure agreements are properly serviced and carry out appropriate site visits and review meetings
  •     Review all IT operational functions required in the media centres at all venues
  •     In consultation with Cricket Operations and Broadcasters, agree the televised match schedule prior to the start of each season
  •     Evaluate the performance of Venues and ECB to Staging Agreements and the ECB Operations Manual at Major and where appropriate, domestic matches
  •     Specifically in relation to Broadcast and Media ensure that post match presentations are of a quality expected by ECB and that all personnel involved are briefed concerning their role and to ensure that all areas are designated  and in place in good time for presentation ceremonies
  •     To be the primary contact during an event for the Host Venue Manager, Broadcasters , Team Management , Umpires , Match Referee, ICC Regional Security Manager and ECB stakeholders and suppliers


Person Specification
 

  •     Previous experience of delivering broadcast and media operations strategies
  •     Previous experience of producing detailed reports and assessments of activities at venues    
  •     Experience of improving standards in similar role.
  •     Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  •     Transparent and objective in assessments of Venues
  •     Committed, comfortable and able to operate in a demanding/busy environment working antisocial hours (evenings, public holidays and weekends)
  •     Strong persuasive skills
  •     Strong relationship/team building skills
  •     Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •     Experience of operational management within a venue 
  •     Highly motivated
  •     Proven ability in meeting tight deadlines is essential
  •     Operate with the upmost integrity and principles
  •     Sports experience is desirable  but particular experience in broadcast and media operations areas is essential
  •     Able to demonstrate confident decision making
