Best of 2013: Coaching and Training
Thanks to you, 2013 has been an incredible cricket year on PitchVision Academy. Yesterday we looked at batting and bowling, today we review the coaching and practice advice, lead by Mark Garaway.
As the man in charge of coach education on PitchVision Academy. Garas weekly column became essential reading for anyone who coaches. He took the most cutting-edge ideas and helped you to develop your skills with drills, ideas and hard science.
For me the highlight of the year was "Coach the Intention" an article that takes a fresh look at the fundamental building blocks of coaching: The way you speak to players.
But Garas kept up the speed with debunking even more old fashioned dogma. His articles on coaching the batting stance, when to use bowling machines, and creating run getters not batters will make you rethink the way you coach.
There was also some classy practical advice on the use of technology.
As you can imagine, PitchVision Academy finds tech an increasingly useful tool and we looked at integrating video cameras, cricket uses for the iPad Air and adding PitchVision to your setup.

There is an endless hunger for drills on PitchVision Academy, so we delivered a new set to keep your players going through the year:

We also examined some simple ways to make training and nets more effective. The OAT method was outlined. Mark Garaway reported on the Wilson-Thompson Consequence Net and we kept things super simple with a free session planner template to design your own.
And the keepers got some attention too. There were drills for standing up, keeping in the IPL and for standing back.
