Reports To: Cricket Competitions Administrator

Appointment:Full Time, 9 months.

Experience: No specific experience required, but a knowledge of cricket and competition management systems would be useful.

 

 

Responsibility: To provide assistance to the Cricket Competitions Administrator with regard to club and school cricket competitions. This will include providing assistance with managing team entries; production of draws; allocation of grounds and general operations of ACA’s and College Sport’s online competition management system. Act as the first point of contact for secondary schools cricket.

 

Overview and Job Description

The Cricket Competitions Administrator is pitched at a ‘junior’ level. It is a full time contracted position for 9 months of the year, July 2014 to April 2015. It includes working on Saturdays from 7am until 2pm during the cricket season.

 

The core requirement of this position is to assist with the effective administration all senior, youth and junior club and school cricket competitions run by Auckland Cricket which includes processing team entries, the production of draws, allocation of grounds and the effective communication of any ground changes, cancellations and defaults. 

 

For both school and club competitions, the position has the responsibility of managing the relevant online competition management system, ensuring match results and points tables are accurate and up-to-date as well as providing other administrative support to the Cricket Competitions  Administrator.  

 

Due to the timing of club and school cricket, some Saturday work will be a key component of the role during the cricket season. Communicating with a range of club and school personnel on a Saturday is an essential element to this position and a key to it being successfully carried out.

 

Key Position Responsibilities:

General

Assist the Cricket Competitions Administrator in all operational matters relating to Senior, Youth and Junior club and school cricket. 

Be the first point of contact for all secondary school cricket.

 

During the Cricket Season 

1. Build strong working relationships with all key secondary school cricket conveners and coaches.

2. Assist the ‘Competitions Administrator’ and ensure schools and club cricket is effectively delivered with regard to draws; ground allocations and competition entry.

3.Organisation and allocation, in coordination with the Competitions Administrator, of all senior, youth and junior cricket grade entries for club and school.

4.Assist with the preparation and distribution (to website, schools and clubs) of competition draws and ground allocations via Auckland Cricket’s online competition management system and the College Sport system.

5.Ensure that results and points tables are accurate and up-to-date for school and club competitions.

6.Responsibility for keeping appropriate records from captains and umpires reports that are relevant to the end of season prize giving.

7.Compile a weekly report of outstanding results from clubs and school games.

8.Edit, update and recreate accurate scorecards as directed by the Competitions Administrator.

9.Communication with contractors regarding seasonal and weekly ground usage and requirements.

10.Production of a weekly schools media report during the school cricket season.

11.Act as secretary at all schools cricket meetings.

12.Organise the secondary schools prize giving.

13.Responsibility for Saturday morning cancellations and ground changes, ensuring   these are effectively communicated prior to 7:30 am for morning grades and prior to 10:00am for afternoon grades.

14.Project work as directed by the Cricket Competitions Administrator.

 

Outside of the cricket season 

1.Assist with the organisation of the Club Cricket Prizegiving event.

2.Collate statistical information to find the award winners for the Club Cricket Prizegiving as required.

3.Assist in the production of the Club Handbook and Junior Leagues Handbook.

4.Project work as directed by the Competitions Administrator.
