CRICKET JOBS: Personal Development Manager - NZ Cricket

Filed in:

Closing date: undisclosed

The NZCPA Career & Personal Development Programme was established in 2007 and is now a key part of the high performance cricket environment in New Zealand. The programme serves NZCPA members including current and past NZ professional players.

Professional cricketers commit a tremendous amount of time, energy and focus into their playing career from an early age and this programme seeks to support them in balancing their cricket commitments with developing a career outside the game; preparing players for “life after cricket”.

The demands on professional cricketers are unique and present many challenges in what is a high performance and very public workplace environment – the programme seeks to assist players with their entry into the professional game, managing the various risks & challenges they face during their playing careers, right through to their ultimate transition out of the sport.

The type of person we’re looking for is someone who:

  • Preferably has a tertiary qualification relevant to the management & personal development of high-performing individuals, i.e. career development, counselling, psychology, leadership or management
  • Has an understanding of career development and how people transition between steps and stages
  • In depth knowledge & previous experience with networking, communication & relationship management
  • Can demonstrate understanding of the needs of elite athletes & coaches in a high performance environment
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and supervise individuals to develop, and unlock their potential
  • Comfortable developing, implementing & evaluating the effectiveness of personal development plans for individuals
  • Proven ability to develop career plans and monitor implementation
  • Communication and presentation skills which can motivate behavioural change and positively impact people you come in contact with
  • Ability to build and maintain extensive business networks which will provide on-going assistance for professional players to transition out of the game
  • Excellent active listening skills and an ability to influence people to achieve their potential

There is a travel component to the role: monthly catch-ups with our National PDM (in Auckland), as well as with teams in Otago, Canterbury and Wellington.

If you’re up for the challenge this role presents, apply now by submitting your CV along with a concise covering letter which links your experience to the responsibilities outlined in the ad, and an explanation of your motivation for applying to Sanj Silva at Sanj.Silva@nzcpa.co.nz

Please also phone either Tracy (021911790) or Matt (0223990035) from Bright NZ for a confidential conversation about your application.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Choosing not to submit a covering letter may significantly disadvantage your application.
