 Salary: £25,000-30,000 per annum

The Position

Job Overview:

The purpose of the role is to promote and develop cricket within the London boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Lambeth, Merton, Southwark, Sutton and Wandsworth. The role also sees the successful candidate leading the development of our Adult participation and inclusion programmes in cricket across the County

 

Main Duties:

Cricket Development

Schools

  • Support the CDO responsible for Junior Cricket in the delivery of the school programmes coaching initiatives in London 
  • Support the CDO responsible for Junior Cricket in the delivery of schools competitions within London
  • Support the delivery of other under 16’s cricket projects across the County as required

 

Club Cricket

  • Delivery of club development support for all clubs in London (Croydon, Kingston, Lambeth, Merton, Southwark, Sutton and Wandsworth)
  • Link in with the CDO responsible for Junior Cricket to plan, organise and deliver the strategic development of venue based community cricket clubs in London. This includes assisting with the coordination of holiday coaching programmes at each venue-based club

 

Community

  • Assist with all local community projects for Surrey County Cricket Club in and around the Kia Oval

 

Inclusion

  • Be County strategic lead on Inclusion  (to include disabilities, women & girls and adult participation cricket programmes)
  • Ensure strategies are in  place to make cricket accessible to everyone in Surrey and London
  • Ensure strategy is in place to engage with the diverse population of Surrey & London (specifically the West Indian and South Asian Communities)

 

Disabilities Cricket

  • Be County strategic lead on disabilities cricket
  • Responsible for the drafting and delivery of the Surrey Cricket Board Disabilities strategy

 

 

Women & Girls Cricket

  • Be County strategic lead on women & girls cricket
  • Be responsible for the drafting and delivery of the Surrey Cricket Board Women & Girls strategy

 

Adult Participation

  • Be County strategic lead on adult participation which includes College/University provision and informal cricket programmes
  • Be responsible for the drafting and delivery of the Surrey Cricket Board Adult Participation strategy 
  • Work as part of the Senior Leagues Working Group and with individual leagues to ensure a collective approach to the competitive cricket in the County, ensuring our structures help recruit more players and retain existing players.
  • Manage the StreetChance Young Adult Programme

 

Line Management

  • Provide Line Management to the Community Coaches ensuring that each member of staff is appraised annually, has a personal development plan in place, and that performance is reviewed regularly against agreed objectives and work programmes

 

Meetings / Key Partnerships

  • Cricket Development Group meetings
  • Disabilities Working Group meetings
  • Women & Girls Working Group meetings 
  • Adult Participation Working Group Meetings
  • Local Schools networks
  • London Sport and Active Surrey County Sports Partnerships as required
  • Any other relevant organisations

 

Education and Training

  • Commit to a professional development programme in order to provide an appropriate service and support to all stakeholders 
  • Liaise closely with the Director of Cricket Development and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions as required

 

Other

  • Responsible for the ongoing monitoring and reporting of all aspects of your work programmes to include completion of monthly activity reports for submission to relevant Committees at SCCC and SCB
  • Drafting and working within defined budgets
  • Ongoing and effective diary management
  • Any additional administration that is created through the role
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Cricket Development


The Person

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities: 

Essential:

  • Degree in related subject
  • At least two years experience working in a Cricket sports development role
  • Experience of managing and developing coaches
  • Experience and knowledge of Disability and Women’s and Girls Cricket
  • Demonstrable experience in building sustainable partnerships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills.  Ability to work autonomously 
  • Ability to lead, command respect within your area of expertise, influence effectively across a multi agency professional and volunteer network
  • Good computer literacy, including MS office 
  • Commitment to a continual professional development programme
  • A full driving Licence.

 

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge and understanding of national, regional and local sports development policy
  • Hold a minimum of ECB UKCC3 (or equivalent) coaching certificate 
  • Knowledge and experience of budget control and financial management
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of accessing new funding streams for the delivery of development programmes
  • Excellent knowledge of ECB Strategy, monitoring and evaluation systems for cricket in England and Wales.
