THE POSITION

Job Overview:

The purpose of the role is to promote and develop cricket within the Surrey boroughs of Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge. The role also sees the successful candidate leading the player and people development programmes in cricket across the County.

MAIN DUTIES:

Cricket Development -

Schools

  • Support the CDO responsible for Junior Cricket in the delivery of the school programmes coaching initiatives in the Surrey boroughs of Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge
  • Support the CDO responsible for Junior Cricket in the delivery of schools competitions within the Surrey boroughs of Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge
  • Support the delivery of other under 16’s cricket projects across the County as required

Club Cricket

  • Delivery of club development support for all clubs in Surrey boroughs of Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge


Player Development -

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive player development programme for players aged 16 and under (below performance course level)
  • Be County strategic lead on People Development  (to include coaches, officials, groundsmen and volunteers)

Coaches

  • Coordinate, deliver and monitor the Surrey Coach Education programme
  • Work with ECBCA – Surrey to deliver a comprehensive CPD programme for Surrey coaches.

Officials (Umpires & Scorers)

  • Work with the Surrey Cricket Board Association of Cricket Officials (SCBACO) to deliver a training and CPD programme for Surrey officials

Volunteers

  • Be County strategic lead on volunteer
  • Organise the annual OSCAs
  • Work closely with the Places team  in the delivery of NatWest CricketForce

Meetings / Key Partnerships

  • Lead local Cricket Development Group meetings
  • SCB ACO meetings
  • SCGA Working Group meetings
  • ECBCA – Surrey meetings
  • London Sport and Active Surrey County Sports Partnerships
  • Any other relevant organisations

Education / Training

  • Commit to a professional development programme in order to provide an appropriate service and support to all stakeholders
  • Liaise closely with the Operations Manager and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions as required.

Other 

  • Responsible for the ongoing monitoring and reporting of all aspects of your work programmes to include completion of monthly activity reports for submission to relevant Committees at SCCC and SCB
  • Drafting and working within defined budgets
  • Ongoing and effective diary management
  • Any additional administration that is created through the role
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the Operations Manager

THE PERSON:

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Essential:

  • At least two years experience working in a sports development or business development role
  • Proven track record of managing a project on time, within budget, hitting all the success factors
  • Experience of running a sports development programme
  • Knowledge and experience of budget control and financial management
  • Experience of managing volunteers and casual employees
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Developed influencing skills
  • Excellent time management skills. Ability to work autonomously
  • Good computer literacy, including MS office
  • Commitment to a continual professional development programme
  • A full driving licence with access to own transport

Desirable:

  • Degree in related subject
  • Qualified ECB Coach
  • Qualified ECB Tutor and Assessor
  • Qualified ECB Field Based Trainer and Internal Verifier
  • Experience in a sales environment
  • Experience of writing and supporting funding applications for grant aid funding
  • Knowledge of ECB’s Strategy and monitoring & evaluation systems for cricket in England and Wales.
