CRICKET JOBS: Internship, Cricket Development and Community Programmes - Sussex CB (UK)

Reports To: Head of Cricket Development / Cricket Development Programmes Officer 

Hours: 35 hours per week 

1. Purpose of the Job: 

  • Reporting to the Head of Cricket Development, to support the delivery of a single long term strategic plan for the development of recreational and community cricket across Sussex. 

2. Principle Responsibilities: 

  • Support to planning, marketing, organisation and delivery of Events under the auspices of Sussex Cricket in the Community 
  • To provide administrative support in the following areas: 
  • Grants / funding 
  • Schools cricket programme (Chance 2 Shine) 
  • Women and girls cricket 
  • Inclusion / Disability projects 
  • Holiday Camps 
  • Other development programmes 
  • Customer feedback and self assessment 

Within specified geographical areas, to support the development of cricket programmes covering all aspects of recreational and community cricket against agreed key performance indicators in the following areas: 

  • Participation levels in clubs, schools and community groups 
  • Player pathway 
  • People (inc Officials, Coaches, Volunteers etc) 
  • Facilities 
  • Development of the County Board 
  • To undertake research projects, as and when prescribed by the SCB Management team 
  • To play a lead role in the marketing of Sussex Cricket in the Community activities through social media, namely website, Facebook and Twitter. 
  • Research into funding streams and applications to these bodies. 
  • Liaise closely with all staff of Sussex Cricket Board and Sussex County Cricket Club. Where appropriate, liaison with ECB Officers. 
  • Be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions as required. 

 

3. Knowledge, Experience and Skills 

The following skills / knowledge / experience are essential (E) or preferred (P): 

  • Knowledge / Experience of sports development / coaching (P) 
  • Passion for sport, preferably cricket (E) 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (E) 
  • Demonstrable excellent organisational skills (E) 
  • Excellent administrative skills, including strong IT skills (E) 
  • Knowledge of current social media (E) 
  • Good time management skills (E) 
  • Commitment to a continual professional development programme (E) 
  • A full driving Licence (E) and access to car (P) 
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring System check (P) 

 

Core hours are Monday to Friday 9-5pm, however due to the nature of the work, the post-holder will carry out his/her duties at such times/days which are most effective to perform the task required. This may involve out of hours work: evenings, weekends and bank holidays as necessary. The board will require attendance at events, presentations and meetings at various times. 

Please be aware that Sussex Cricket is not in a position to fund this placement and as such, students need to meet all their own living and travel costs. However, any costs incurred whilst travelling on behalf of the club will be covered.
