NORTH MIDDLESEX CC  -  COMMITTED, AMBITIOUS CLUB COACH AND ACADEMY DIRECTOR WANTED

North Middlesex CC (NMCC) is a long established (founded 1875), vibrant and progressive club, based in Crouch End, within 4 miles of the centre of  London

Our facilities for playing and practicing are among the very best in Middlesex, following a sustained period of investment , and  we have a large and growing playing membership, which now totals some 270 . Our Senior 1st XI plays in the ECB Middlesex Premier League, and 3 of our other 4 Senior sides also play in the Middlesex County League structure – the top level of club cricket in Middlesex.

Our thriving Colts section (covering boys and girls from 5 to 17) has enjoyed considerable growth and success over the last decade, winning County titles at various age groups.  We have an established Academy aligned to a published Elite Player Pathway aimed at producing talented cricketers for our 1st XI and other Senior sides. The fact that often more than 50% of the  players in our 5 Saturdaysides are either current or ex-Colts is evidence of our Academy’s success.

The club is run by a hard -working group of volunteers. We pride ourselves on being friendly and inclusive, and on providing “cricket for all”.  However, we also recognize how critical it is to give our strongest Colts an Academy environment beyond general club training to develop their skills.  Our current club coach is moving away from London to Somerset for personal reasons after 3 highly successful seasons at NMCC, and we are seeking a replacement to continue and indeed extend his good work.

This part–time role represents a highly attractive opportunity  for an ambitious individual with the right combination of coaching skills and experience, together with organizational flair. The coach will be responsible for directing player development across the club and for mentoring our volunteer coaches, and will sit on our Executive and Selection Committees.  He/she will combine coaching responsibilities (during both Winter and Summer) within NMCC, and  particularly with regard to  our Academy, with outreach work  among local schools.

The successful  candidate will also  have the opportunity to take on organizational and administrative roles within the club, thereby developing his/her skill-set.Remuneration would be based on an hourly rate reflecting qualification and experience.  We would wish to discuss the detail of the Academy Proggramme with the successful applicant.  However, to give applicants have an idea of likely time commitment and coaching fees , here is an indication of likely basic hours –

Indoor –

Pre Christmas – 20 hours (comprising 4 all day Camps in Autumn half term and Christmas holidays)
Post Christmas – 35 hours (comprising 10 x 1 hour net sessions (plusprep) on weekday evenings and 3 all day Camps in the Easter holidays and one ‘Coaching the Coaches’ mentoring Camp)

Outdoor (from early April) – 6 hours per week for 12 to 14 weeks(comprising weekly Academy sessions plus overseeing general Colts’weekly Saturday morning training sessions)

The role could potentially be split between the Indoor and Outdoor programmes and would be covered by a contract for provision of coaching services with the selected applicant being self-employed. In addition to working directly with and for NMCC, the coach will have the opportunity to generate other income, for example by offering one-to-one coaching, using NMCC’s excellent practice facilities,  and by helping to organize “cricket camps” for young players during the Easter and Summer school holidays.

There may also be scope to become involved in non-cricket business activities run by NMCC’s tenants at our Ground. There is also the possibility of combining this role with that of our overseas First XI player.

The successful candidate will have ECB Level 2 (or equivalent) as a minimum and preferably Level 3. Applicants are requested to send their CVs, covering applications and any queries to nmcc.job@gmail.com.
