CRICKET JOBS: Club Coach - Cumnor CC (UK)

Cumnor Cricket club are advertising for the role of head coach, seeking applications for an appointment for the 2016 season. The club are ambitious, with a genuine aim of promotion from Cherwell League Division One this season. The playing membership is strong, and boasts one of the most exciting and successful junior set ups in the area, regularly producing junior county cricketers, many of whom are established members of the club’s first team, and higher representational sides. 

Facilities at the club include state of the art nets installed recently, bowling machine, coaching equipment, large pavilion and a beautiful ground, along with a second pitch available in a neighbouring village.

The role of coach at Cumnor involves taking responsibility for a strong senior set up, and overseeing the junior section of the club.

The full scope of the role is negotiable, but duties will involve a minimum of:
 

  •     Coordinate and run senior nets (Tuesday and Thursday)
  •     Coordinate the planning and delivery of junior training evenings (Wednesdays)
  •     Running four junior academy weeks during the summer holidays
  •     Overseeing the establishment of a ladies team this season, with a view to establish a competitive ladies team for the 2017 season.


 

Candidate will preferably also be able to commit to:

  •     Attending league games, mainly with the 1st XI, to oversee a senior side on the day of a game, and to Davidstow Village Cup games on Sundays where relevant
  •     Involvement with team selection
  •     Some involvement with junior fixtures throughout the season.


 

The ideal candidate will be:

  •     An experienced cricketer, with either playing or coaching experience would be ideal. Minimum ECB Level 2 qualified coach and holding an up to date DBS certificate (previously CRB – or able to obtain DBS certificate)
  •     Excellent communicator, well organised and able to represent the club in a positive manner at all times
  •     Good leader, to help develop a positive environment throughout the club.


 

Additional information:

In addition to any duties taken on, a successful candidate will be able to advertise to the whole club, and beyond the provision of private cricket tuition, and have free use of the excellent net and training facilities when they are not in use to generate further revenue. This would be seen as part of a remuneration package. With a junior section over 150 strong, and approximately 60 current senior playing members, the potential to turn this into a successful revenue stream is clear.

 

Please note: Whilst a player coach application would be welcomed, but there would be no additional pay for playing for the club, as per the league rules.

*Category 3 Visiting Players must have been under 24 years of age on 1st September in the year before the current season to be eligible to play in the league.
