CRICKET JOBS: Community Coaches, 2 positions - Edinburgh Council (UK)

City of Edinburgh Council in conjunction with the Lothian Junior Cricket Development Group are looking for 2 Community Coaches to help deliver their cricket programmes for 2015. Details of the jobs are below.


Post Title: 2 x Community Coaches for CoE Council / Lothian Junior Cricket Development Group

Location: CoE Council / various sites across authority

Reports to: CoE Council Cricket / LJCDG

Basic Hours: 15 hours per week on average for 26 weeks, Jan – July 2015

Basic Salary: £15 per hour

 

Purpose of the Job:

The Community Cricket Coach will work as part of a sport specific team to increase the number of people playing cricket and improve the quality of cricket provision across the Local region.  The post holder will be responsible for delivering the outcomes set in the Cricket Development Plan. 

 

Major Tasks:

  • Establish and deliver curricular and extra-curricular cricket opportunities at primary school sites targeting P4-7 aged pupils. 
  • Deliver cricket sessions to identified target group in secondary schools based on link club requirements. 
  • Work with the CoE Council Cricket Development Officer to support local clubs to improve capacity and achieve TOP Club accreditation. 
  • Support the delivery of session in Cricket Clubs. 
  • Formalise links between schools receiving delivery and feeder cricket clubs to increase the number of people playing junior club cricket. 
  • Identify and support local clubs to establish opportunities for girls to play competitive cricket.Support CPD for teachers and volunteers to support the development of cricket opportunities in and out of school. 
  • Support coaches at local clubs through mentoring support appropriate to the individual`s needs. 
  • Actively promote the pathway from school to club at all stages of the programme. 

Relevant Qualifications:

  • Minimum Cricket Coach Award (UKCC2) or equivalent 
  • Must have current PVG Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland 

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years cricket coaching experience or equivalent in a similar sport and activity related area.
  • Experience in successful partnership working and the ability to identify good practice. 

Additional earning opportunities:

  • Coaching work with local cricket clubs (£12.50 / £15 hour)
