CRICKET JOBS: General manager - Dunstable Town CC (UK)

POST: GENERAL MANAGER

SALARY: £20,000 pa

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Club Chairman 

RESPONSIBLE FOR: The bar staff  including all casuals and volunteers

HOURS: Normally 40 Hours per week, 

Hours to fit with bar opening times and functions, mainly evenings and weekends.


NOTICE: Initially 1 week, rising to 4 weeks at end of 6 month probationary period


HOLIDAYS: 28 Days (20 days plus 8 bank holiday days). 

By agreement. No more than one week to be taken in cricket season 1st weekend in May – 2nd weekend in September.


PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

To be responsible for the day to day running of the Club bars and function room; 

To promote the availability of the Club as a venue for functions to new and existing members in line with Club policy;

To drive the performance and development of Club Bar and associated facilities to increase turnover and net profitability;

To ensure that these results are delivered through exceptional customer service to the Club’s membership.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES


1. General Manager

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the running of the Bar and associated member’s facilities;
  • To organise and manage the necessary casual bar staff rotas and any volunteers to provide a cost effective and efficient bar facility
  • To lead the way in working behind the bar at busy times; 
  • To be responsible for legal compliance of the bar activity;
  • To ensure key financial indicators and critical success factors around turnover, profitability, and customer satisfaction are met;
  • To order all bar stock purchases from the Club’s preferred supplier and to receive and check deliveries of supplies, dealing with an discrepancies;
  • To manage the accuracy of the tills, ensuring that all sales are correctly recorded and all cash takings are correct;
  • To ensure that all cash handling procedures are adhered to in a timely and accurate manner including the completion of accounting control sheets and records as required by the Club Treasurer; 
  • To manage daily cash liquidity by maintaining a suitable change float;
  • To ensure that all cash security procedures are maintained;
  • To manage all bookings of facilities within the Club (function room, cricket nets, cricket pitches, football pitches etc.) ensuring that all are correctly charged and all monies due are promptly collected and accurately recorded;
  • To maintain high standards of operational hygiene and cleanliness with the Clubhouse including bar, kitchen, toilets;
  • To be responsible for protection of Club property including cash;
  • To attend Bar Committee meetings as required and to maintain effective communications with the Bar and Executive Committee members.

2. Members and customers

  • To create a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere which is inviting to members and guest customers;
  • To present a smart, tidy personal appearance with high standards of personal hygiene;
  • To deliver exceptional customer service to the Club’s membership;
  • To listen to and communicate effectively with, all members and customers;
  • To actively seek and promote new membership of the Club including social and associate members; 
  • Carry out a full induction for new members;
  • To actively promote and market the Club functions and activities via direct sales, advertising, social media.

3. Health & Safety

  • To be responsible for implementing Health & Safety Policies, and conduct regular reviews of COSHH and RIDDOR data and log any records of these.
  • To adhere to the Health and Safety policy.

GENERAL DUTIES 

  • To contribute to the positive and professional image of the Club;
  • To portray a positive image, both internally and externally by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness and professionalism; 
  • Not to act in such a manner as to bring the Club into disrepute;
  • To display respect and discretion to the Executive Committee, supporting and implementing all management decisions and policies; 
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibilities of the post that may be reasonably requested from time to time.
