CRICKET JOBS: Ground Opporations Manager - Somerset CCC (UK)

Somerset County Cricket is a successful and growing County Cricket Club who will be staging international cricket between 2017 and 2019, including the ICC Women’s World Cup and ICC Men’s World Cup. The Ground Operations Manager will deliver and maintain match day and non-match facilities, buildings and services, whilst leading match day delivery from a safety and stewarding perspective.

Key Responsibilities;

 

  •     Assume responsibilities on behalf of the club for maintaining compliance to the requirements of any Safety Certificate in place and all statutory & guidance requirements relating to Event Day operations.
  •     Produce the Club Operations Manual, as recommended within The Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds to efficiently & coherently manage the Clubs Event day operations.
  •     Source and deliver all necessary training & assessment to all members of staff with Event Day public safety responsibilities, to maintain compliance with the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds.
  •     Act on behalf of the club to maintain regular consultation with all relevant regulatory or advisory organisations, i.e. Taunton Deane Borough Council, Sports Ground Safety Authority, Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, Somerset Ambulance Service.
  •     Act as liaison on behalf of the Club with all emergency services in the event of any unforeseen incident, ensuring that on Event Days the Chief Executive is fully informed of any developments and actions necessary, to maintain public safety.
  •     Produce Event Day Risk Assessments for all events undertaken and ensure all staffing requirements are identified.
  •     Continually monitor the performance of all persons with Event Day Health & Safety responsibilities, including casual & agency workers, and recommend any actions deemed necessary as a result of this monitoring.
  •     Maintain full control on event days on behalf of Somerset County Cricket Club.
  •     Maintain a positive & proactive approach to the role to assist the Club and deliver the highest possible standards of customer service and safety.


Desirable Skills and Experience;

 

  •     Proven experience in safety and security leadership in events delivery.
  •     An NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management is highly desirable, or the ability to achieve that qualification in a reasonable timeframe.
  •     A strong knowledge of safety legislation and guidance.
  •     Experience in the delivery of safety and security within the sports ground is highly desirable.
  •     The ability to lead and manage security staff from different organisations.
  •     Proven ability to plan effectively with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
  •  
  •     Experience of working in high pressure situations with the ability to lead effectively.
