A rare opportunity has arisen for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to work for one of the country’s oldest sports clubs, Sussex County Cricket Club, for a period of six months from April 2015 (with a review thereafter).

This is a very busy role, reporting into the Head of Operations and Facilities and will be supervised by the Facilities Technician. Assisting with a wide range of general maintenance around the site and at our out grounds, the suitable candidate must be a genuine team-player and have a proactive, flexible and can-do attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must for this role.

The successful candidate will need to be available to start immediately and be prepared to work full- time for a period of six months. A flexible approach is a pre-requisite for this role as during the busy periods of the cricket season there will be a need to work during some weekends and evenings.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of working within maintenance in a busy facilities environment, and be accustomed to carrying out their work to the highest of standards. A full, clean driving licence is essential. Please note that all tools and equipment will be supplied by Sussex County Cricket Club.

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Assistant

Reports To: The Head of Operations and Facilities

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Hours: Full -time (40 hours per week) with the requirement to work some evenings and weekends

Location: Hove County Cricket Ground with some work at the outgrounds (Blackstone and Preston Nomads) and the festivals (Horsham and Arundel)

Contract: Six Months Fixed Term (to be reviewed thereafter)

 

Role Purpose

  • To assist the Maintenance Technician with a variety of general maintenance duties around the site, including at the out grounds
  • To ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards and complies with regulations as per the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Key Tasks

  • Maintain the facilities area from the perimeter of the pitch to the external wall (excluding electrical, plumbing and gas works), in a safe and compliant manner at all times
  • Carry out a wide range of general maintenance duties (e.g. carpentry, painting and decorating, grounds maintenance)
  • Secure the site, in conjunction with others, as directed by the Head of Operation and Facilities/ Maintenance Technician
  • Ensuring the appropriate materials are on site ( a works van can be used to collect materials)
  • Be part of the match and event set up team at The County Ground , Hove and at all other out grounds used by Sussex CCC
  • Liaise with relevant contractors whilst on site
  • Maintain a professional standard of appearance and behaviour at work reflecting the Club’s image
  • Physically able to carry out the duties that have been outlined
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
