The ECB is the governing body for Cricket in England and Wales and has been awarded three global tournaments in the next three and half years starting with the ICC Champions Trophy (CT) followed by the ICC Women’s World Cup (WWC) in 2017 and then culminating in the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) in 2019.

As the Head of Marketing we are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and confident individual with exceptional team-working skills to take on this role.  We have built a strong reputation in this area over the last two ICC tournaments hosted by the ECB in 2009 and 2013 and we want someone who can take the role and drive further awareness and engagement to deliver a further two exceptional tournaments hosted in England and Wales in 2017.

The Head of Marketing will work closely with all key stakeholders, the CT and WWC venues, to design and coordinate an integrated marketing strategy across all levels of the game using all available distribution platforms and mediums to maximise the Tournaments exposure and appeal.
 
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •     Partner closely with the Managing Director to market and promote a world-leading ICC CT and WWC
  •     Work in partnership with the LOC customer experience team (ticketing, catering and travel and logistics) to maximise the impact of tournament marketing
  •     Lead a small, yet broad reaching team, that will utilise Insight (Insight data from the appointed agency) to underpin the marketing strategy and objectives
  •     Prepare tender documents for the creative, media plan and PR elements of the tournaments
  •     Build and maintain strong relationships with the LOC team, ECB staff, ICC staff and external providers to the Tournament, particularly the appointed Insight partner
  •     Represent ECB LOC at internal and external meetings
  •     Understand the marketing objectives of the tournament and deliver against those objectives
  •     Work closely alongside the host venues marketing teams responsible for delivering at a local level
  •     Develop a full understanding of the Event Promotional Plan (in conjunction with the ICC) and work to deliver the international and domestic marketing strategy
  •     Point of contact for all LOC and ECB venues on all their outbound communication in line with the marketing strategy
  •     Setting and management of marketing budgets with the team
  •     Proactive line management of staff, when recruited
  •     Work closely with the relevant ECB departments to ensure full integration of all Tournament strategies
  •     Management of research and insight groups
  •     Analysing all data sets available to glean information to help develop engaged and loyal fans

PERSON SPECIFICATION
 
Candidate profile
 
The candidate must be able to demonstrate good customer management skills and be able to direct and manage a team in a busy working environment. You must be able to use a wide range of marketing techniques and concepts and think creatively, devising new ways of communicating with a diverse local and global audience.
 
Strong preferences

  •     at least 5 years’ experience working in a marketing role
  •     experience of leading and managing highly motivated and effective marketing teams
  •     experience of managing media, design and PR agencies
  •     experience of developing multi-channel integrated marketing plans
  •     ability to build and manage multiple stakeholder relationships
  •     a strong understanding of brand development
  •     understanding the latest developments and trends in the ‘new media world’
  •     have knowledge of a wide range of marketing techniques and concepts
  •     be an excellent communicator
  •     be able to respond well under pressure
  •     think creatively
  •     be interested in what motivates people

Desirable

  •     experience in event management and communications roles
  •     confident in building relationships with senior management
  •     an understanding of cricket but a strong interest in sport
