CRICKET JOBS: Marketing Manager, Participation - ECB (UK)

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is responsible for the health of cricket, and one particular focus is to inspire children to begin a lifelong association with the game.
 
We believe that cricket is uniquely placed to develop young people, both as athletes and well-rounded, active members of their communities. That journey begins not only on the field, but in the park, on the beach or in the street.

We are looking for an experienced marketing manager to help us engage with children and their families, to drive sustainable participation in the game. Through harnessing the game’s significant collective assets, we want someone to help inspire girls and boys to pick up a bat and a ball, regardless of their background or sporting talent. Who knows, you might inspire a future England captain, but at the very least, this is an opportunity to spark enduring, rewarding relationships with cricket among thousands of children in England and Wales. This role reports to the Head of Marketing within the Commercial Department and works closely with the Participation, Digital and Communications teams, and our commercial partners. The role will also work with the numerous stakeholders across the recreational game.
 
The role requires someone who has a passion for grassroots sport and a strong track record in insight-led marketing in sport or consumer brands.
 
Roles and responsibilities
 
Use customer-insight to inform marketing plans to grow kids’ participation in cricket
 
Lead numerous stakeholders in the game to deliver joined-up marketing plans:
 

  •     The club network
  •     Commercial partners
  •     External stakeholders


Communicate via direct and indirect channels, e.g.:
 

  •     Our social media channels
  •     The indirect network of 6,000 recreational cricket clubs
  •     Commercial partners marketing campaigns


Agree the Right Measurement to ensure effective activity – e.g. tracking measures
 
Person specification
 
Essential
 

  •     Over 5 years demonstrable experience in sports marketing or consumer brands
  •     university-level or equivalent qualification
  •     experience of developing and delivering multi-channel marketing plans, with emphasis on digital marketing
  •     ability to build and manage multiple stakeholder relationships
  •     confident in building relationships with senior management
  •

  •     strong project management skills
  •     exceptional communication and copy writing skills
  •     a coherent and confident presenter with the ability to chair large meetings
  •     a strong team player comfortable with responsibility
  •     organised and self-motivated
  •     attention to detail
