Vish's Log (New)

Right, decided i am going to stick to doing a log this year, think the main reasons i gave up is because i didn't really commit to writing it and as it was half-hearted, i got very few replies. This is going to be a log with loads of questions as well because recently i have found myself questioning every part of my technique and it is very hard to analyse yourself so i thought if i asked questions on here, i could get some feedback from David or others? This would be great.

Quick Blog about me:
Age: 16
Height: 6 ft 1/2
Weight: 9 stone 10
Right-Handed Bat

So, firstly before we talk about this season, i feel it essential to talk about last. I have been playing cricket properly for about 3 years now, and last season was a very good season for me. Only got 2 50's (69- Sunday friendly, 70 n.o Saturday League) however i played alot of cricket and scored many 20's, 30s, 40s etc and as a 15 year old at the time, playing my 2nd/3rd proper year, it was a big thing for me. However, last year after a run of bad scores, i decided to change my technique and bat with a trigger going back and across and yes it worked, however, i did not really get any coaching on it and tbh i felt it all a bit uneccessary and even quite distracting as i was doing it before the bowler had bowled and yes i am playing a decent standard of cricket but it isn't professional is it so after a couple of average scores this year i reverted back to standing still. However, i do get a little tense from just standing so just before the bowler bowls, i kind of go still and bend my legs? Does that make much sense? Anyway having done that seems to have worked for me and i have hit 117 runs in the last 5 innings at an average of 29.25 with one 50 so, so far it seems to have gone ok. But yeah ANY questions/help/info on trigger movements etc are going to be very good and beneficial. This is what i mean about keep tinkering with technique though, i am never fully confident with my own and keep trying to change little things, such as bat lift now, i swing it from toe to hip without it touching the ground then "crouch" before it's bowled, however, on tv etc, you dont see that much as it's usually just one motion? Anyway, if that didn't make sense, please ask because i do feel help would be good and i want this blog to be lively, informative and help me really.

Anyway, back to this season. Firstly, what weather we are having? What has it been like for you guys? Here in the East Midlands there have been so many games called off which is so annoying. Nothing worse than not playing any cricket in the summer. As said, i changed my technique a little and since then have done ok but nothing really before with a few teen scores. 165 runs scored so far i think? But i haven't played that many games really at all, so it is annoying that i probably wont score as many as i thought possible at the start of the year. No real goal in terms of how many runs scored, i want to be consistent, that is key for me, i want to get 4 50's (1 so far) but average late 20's. I know this may seem a little low as a batsman but i am 16, and i play a good level of cricket on a Saturday for a 16 year old(45 overs) as well as U17 (20 over), Sunday (40 over) so a fair few games (well should have been before this weather). Main thing for me is to keep improving on my game and when i am in a good run of form, make it count with some big scores hopefully. We shall see what the season provides.

Nutrition now - Right, last September i went on a diet, I was 12 st 2 at the time and was chubby shall we say, Lost 2 and a bit stone and am now 9 stone 10. However, my diet wasn't the typical one and instead was just eating less (under 1400 calories i aimed for) and yeah now i want a nutritional plan as well as a gym plan that is going to help my batting and tone my upper body because i don't have a lot of muscle mass whatsoever and i want to tighten everything up if that makes sense? and get a strong core? So this i am hoping to get some advice of you David on what can be done? Do you understand what i mean by toning by the way? As in people call me skinny etc and lanky but i want my stomach to be firm. Anyway, as i said i will take any gym plan and eating plan you recommend because the worst thing for me would be putting back on weight in the summer.

Anyway this has taken quite a while so i will update more tomorrow, basically i want questions and advice if that is ok haha, something to keep this blog readable for everyone concerned. So any questions would be fantastic.
