Quick Tip: Could Getting Up Early Help you Bat Better?

Filed in:

Getting up 30 minutes early might be all you need to improve your cricket.

Recent research into creativity has found that most people are at their best for "thinking outside the box" early in the morning. This has lead one writer, Brian Cormack Carr, to experiment with getting up early and spending those extra 30 minutes on coming up with creative ideas. He tried it with himself and some of his coaching clients in a number of industries.

And he wasn't the first, with the idea dating back to the '30s.

What has this got to do with your batting?

Well, imagine you have a technical problem that is restricting your scoring. A lot of us do. It's frustrating and you are struggling to think of a way out. No matter what you try, you can't overcome the issue.

You set your alarm early and when you wake up you immediately think about the problem. Don't shower, don't make breakfast, don't even get up.

You are at your most creative here, so you may just come up with a solution. Then you head to nets with a fresh plan and a new found enthusiasm for the task.

Is this scientifically proven?

No.

Will it work?

I have no idea, but what have you got to lose?
