The law of 10,000

It takes, according to Bob Woolmer, 10,000 goes at something before you master it.

That's a lot of practice.

For me this underlines how important practice is for club cricket. As amateur players we are all limited for how much time we can give, but performance on the field is directly related to how much skills training you do. How motivated are you to improve?

As long as it is good quality skills training.

So if you are going to do anything this coming season, make sure it involves knocking a few more off that 10,000 target with an extra practice a week.

And what if the 10,000 hours of practice has not been the right practice? Is that not a big reason that many promising cricketers fail to reach the top? Practice makes Permanent thats for sure.

I want to play 4 England squad and I practice every day in my house at the nets at the park

Play up an age level at club, try and get into the Middlesex setup through recommendation from your coach. Consider adult cricket at 3rd/4th XI if your coach thinks you are ready.

It is well said! We have to do enough practice and then only we can take out our full performance in the ground for every game not only for cricket. http://datanetpacific.com In the case of amateur players more hard work is needed.

Mihir, 10,000 hours of sport , not just cricket, it's all related. I have a 13 year old who wants to play professionally, the first goal is County cricket, not international, small steps before you can run. Love the game inside out, get a good coach/friend/ mentor and never look back.
