Michael Brearley OBE is one of England's most successful captains. Described as having a "degree in people" he captained England to victory 17 times in 31 Tests, including the famous 1981 Ashes series. He also led his county, Middlesex, to the County Championship 4 times.

As a batsman he scored over 25,000 first class runs with 45 centuries.

Since retiring he has become a full time psychoanalyst and psychotherapist. He has been president of the MCC.
