Applications are invited for the position of Cricket Analyst at Kent County Cricket Club.

Kent County Cricket Club is looking to develop its cricket statistics and video databases. Along with many sports, cricket is now using statistical analysis techniques to assess and improve the performance of its team. Kent Cricket is looking to lead in this field and wishes to employ an analyst to help with the challenge.

 

 

The position will report to the Head Coach and will involve collecting, managing and analysing video footage in liaison with the ECB and Kent coaching staff. In addition, the job includes compiling and maintaining a database of all county cricket activity across the three codes of Championship, One Day and twenty20 cricket. The purpose is to better inform Kent’s coaching staff, players and management of player potential and opposition strengths and weaknesses.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to understand and analyse statistical data and be able to present their results in a clear, concise and understandable form to non-specialists. It is likely that the successful candidate will be a graduate in maths or statistics. A high IT skill level is expected, with the need to work with data and video gathering systems. In addition, familiarity with Excel and other tools such as Access is essential along with presentation tools such as Power Point.

A knowledge, appreciation and understanding of the game is absolutely critical. In addition, candidates will demonstrate strong motivation with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. They will be independent thinkers able to challenge conventional thinking.
