She has been using PitchVision to assist her coaching with video feedback in both net sessions and one to ones with talented players.
When we caught up with her, Mignon spoken with passion about her aims for the school.
“When I was growing up, I never had the kind of coaching and technology that is available to cricketers today. I wanted to make sure girls were introduced to this at an early age to help them improve quickly. That’s why we have started the PitchVision camps.”
Mignon is taking charge of player recruitment, coach selection and course planning. The camps are open to all, and focused on helping any youngster get better at the game. It's a fantastic opportunity for young cricketers to get inspired, involved and passionate about a life in cricket!
“Cricket is a career choice for both girls and boys now, with big Twenty20 leagues all over the world. The response we have had to the first few camps has been overwhelming, we have been fully booked. Some girls have travelled from Jo’burg! Players have been able to see and track themselves improve over the sessions and give them an amazing chance to become a cricketer.”
Mignon has played international cricket for seven years and is a former captain of South Africa. She has over 140 Test, ODI and T20I caps, scoring over 3,000 international runs with two centuries.
The whole team at PitchVision are delighted to have such a talented coach and player on board to take a vital role in the future of the game.
