Cricket

I'm new here in this form so hello everyone. Smiling
I'm 18 years old from India and i love cricket and wanted to get selected in Indian team squad to play International matches.
I have this dream since i start watching cricket but due to study issues my parents won't allow me to play and now that i have grown up asked my parents and they say i have to get in Engineering college not in this cricket world because in cricket Millions of people apply in India and you can't become one they think. So basically they mean i have no future in it.

So i want to get cleared that how long it will take me to get into International Squad. I really got great will power and im really hard worker only for cricket.

My question is how long i have to wait and what i s the procedure to get into it.

------> I'm right handed batsman and left handed bowler (medium pacer) though i m working hard to get max speed.

If it's 1 to choose then i will choose Batting or if not then I'm a good all-rounder.

Welcome Waibhav.

I am not going to lie, the odds are stacked against you as a late starter. Most professionals earn their stripes between the ages of 8-18 and you have missed a crucial period.

However, all is not lost, but you need to understand the risks. To help with that, here are some articles that can provide some answers:

waibhav i would say get the right knowledge about the game first from online courses available on this site and dont hesitate in purchasing them .then it would be lot easiet for u to succeed in cricket . I am telling u from my experience that most of the grass root level coaches in India dont have complete knowledge and u can fill that gap by using online courses of pv academy .Rest depends upon ur goal combined with the purpose behind it which will motivate u to work hard and will never let u quit in tough times and sorry for not editing the text properly!!!!

Thanks David, your topics really helped me and i finally decided to work hard.
I applied for the best academy in my state when i entered they said you are too old now for starting though we can test your bowling as i am Left Hand bowler and 6 ft tall.
Then i bowled to 10 times to batsmen in which 5 times he got beated 1 time it went wide and 4 times he played some decent shots. The coach liked my bowling as i was outswinging some balls and allowed me to play for their academy in only 1 condition is to work really hard.

So i'm now planning my training and nutrition plan by looking the topics from this site and build myself to play the state levels as soon as possible.

I'll keep you all updated. Smiling
