We all want to be a bit like our heroes. So, it's natural to want to emulate their methods and tactics.

The problem is that you are not Kevin Pietersen, or Brett Lee, or Shane Warne. Even if you become the greatest player ever, you will never be your hero. And that means you should never try to copy what they do. It's doomed to failure.

What is far more productive is to see how your favourite players do the go, then try and integrate this into your own game. Some things will work, some things will fail, some things are clearly not even work trying. All you need to do is approach them with a critical eye.

As you progress you will throw things away and keep other stuff that has worked. You are integrating not emulating.

And when you get to that point you can start to look at the methods that players you dislike use too. That's taking integration to ninja levels.
