Lay the table as this week we are talking about food and cricket. It's an often overlooked but important part of everyone's game. Also in the show, Gary Palmer's CCM Academy is taking bookings, Ian Pont talks to us and we hear how PitchVision is helping research into batting at the University of Western Australia.

Questions this week include:

  • How much time fast bowlers should allocate to batting and fielding practice
  • In season nutrition tips for cricketers
  • How to be a vegetarian cricketer
  • How much should cricket players drink?

The nutrition system we discussed is called Precision Nutrition. Click here to find out more.

hi,sir i wish to made a cricketer but my right eye was dead an acceident in my childhood so i tell about that can i play cricket as proffesional if yes please tells us what can i do?

dude, you can do anything your mind and heart is set on doing. im not going to tell you it'll be easy, in fact because of your disability you might not be able play the game like the others (eyes are one of the most important tools in cricket) BUT, whats to say you cant study up and become a world-recognized coach? a physio, in team management? Hell, i even think if you want it hard enough, you can play through having one eye... best of luck bro

There are some very good Visially impared squads including county and national sides and you would qualify based on your imparement. In london and the home counties there are many squads organised with help from cricket for change that i do have some involvement with, and have direct links to the national side. Just have a look around and you'd be able to find something wherever you are

First of all , i just want to thank you all a lot for choosing my question in the podcast and its very nice to see that you help everyone out.

My question is about how many servings of food should i be taking each day?

Remembring i am a vegetarian.

No problem Vishi, as I mentioned in the show, eat mostly whole foods every 2-4 hours and take in lean protein and 2-3 portions of vegetables each time. If you do that you are good to go. The link to precision nutrition above will give you recipes and more detailed discussion if you need it.
