Yeah, this is a fairly useful video clip, but it also can be damaging in some respects. One of the key things that Warne fails to point out is the importance of focusing on attaining your Leg Break and making sure that it is solid before moving on to the variations. There are several other things he could have looked at that are more useful than going through all of his variations. I love Warnie and feel that he has got so much that he can offer cricket, but it doesn't seem to be that forthcoming and much of the footage that is available does seem to serve self promotion rather than the encouragement of skills. The internet provides a phenomenal access point to such a massive array of knowledge, but it doesn't seem to be happening. There was a brilliant short peice of footage a while back featuring Beau Casson on youtube demonstrating some really crucial and fundamental drills that all Wrist Spinners at all levels should be aware of. The drills were useful for beginners right through to bowlers that have been bowling for years. The points covered in the video were basic stuff, but if you'd never been shown them by someone whom you respected as being a master of the art - they were the kind of thing you'd never possibly considered as being so crucial to your practice. Unfortunately the Beau Casson clips were removed because they were intended to be tasters to entice people to sign up to on-line coaching courses and the video was being used by a number of enthusiasts to explain and suggest drills on their websites (Including me). Wrist Spinning is such a complex and difficult art and there are so few people that bowl it with any real knowledge that are able to pass that knowledge on - I've yet to meet one in real life! So while this video skims the very surface of the art (it is intended for small boys) it falls a long way short of being useful to anyone that takes the subject seriously. Warne needs to sit down and write a book along the lines of Peter Philpotts 'The Art of Wrist Spin Bowling' because the art has moved on and Warne has taken it further and needs to cover the subject in depth either in a written form or a very in-depth video format.

Dave, you should talk to our leg sppin coach Haroon Muhammed, I spent a day with him filming videos in the summer and he has great passion and knowledge.
