Here is a spin bowling question from Arutha that was emailed in:

"I need some advice though on how to bowl a quicker one and a doosra without too much of a noticeable change in my action."

Bowling the doosra is extremely difficult. It’s not just a case of practising hard. You also have to be born with very flexible wrists and shoulders. So, there is an element of luck involved.

So, if you can bowl a doosra, any doosra, then please do not worry about disguising it too much. The batsman still has to play it even if he happened to pick it.

Very few of us play Test cricket where batsmen will study video analyses of you before a game and are experts at picking your action. You will do just fine if you bowl a doosra that is not perfectly hidden. You give batsmen way to much credit for thinking they will always spot your other one.

People could spot Shane Warne’s normal leggie every time, but they sure had a hard time playing it!

Just worry about getting your doosra in the right spot. You are one of very few who can bowl it in the first place. Once you hit levels where people can use video analysis to nullify you, try and actually disguise it!

Good luck Arutha.
