Update: Cricket Training Programme

Every now and again I'll update you with my own schedule, just to give you an idea of how a club player can do it. Hopefully it will give you some context to my tips.

Last time I updated you I was just starting my recovery phase. Mainly to give my body time to recover after the season.

Now I'm feeling fit again I will be taking this week as complete rest (well, I'll be walking about 30 min a day but nothing else).

Once that's done I will begin a very gentle running and weights routine just for general fitness. Officially it's the start of my preparation phase, although really it's so mild it's preparation for the preparation.

I am still keeping my calorie intake low, and have lost 3kg. I'll keep doing that for this week then review by getting my body fat percentage done.

I have been doing imagery work once a week all through September. I find it's making me think a lot more positively.

I have also (in a borderline autistic way) planned out the dates for the build up to the new season. Here it is:

  • October 1st - January 24th - Preparation Phase (Base Building)
  • January 25th - April 29th - Preparation Phase (Cricket Specific)
  • April 29th - September 3rd - Competitive Phase

You will notice a little crossover at the start of the season. This is so my fitness peaks just after the start of the season. Plus in January I'll be doing some cricket specific work as indoor nets start.

What's your routine? Drop me a line and let me know. Especially if your season is different from mine.
