Welcome to the Brand New PitchVision Academy

Filed in:

Let me be the first to welcome you to the exciting new PitchVision Academy pages, come in, take a look around and make yourself at home.

As you know, we have had the virtual decorators in to give the place a full makeover (if you are reading this in an RSS feed or email you can click here to check out our pimped ride).

It’s mostly cosmetic changes, meaning all you need to do is enjoy the new view. All the original content from the last 5 years is still here for you to read, view or listen to whenever you like.

If you have been here a while...

Don’t get nostalgic about the old days, it’s just like it used to be, only better.

All your bookmarks still work, your forum account still exists, you can still post comments and the newsletter and RSS feed go out as normal. If you are enrolled on PitchVision Academy as a member, or you have paid for online coaching courses, your login still works in exactly the same way.

So what has changed?

Well, a couple of things that you might want to know about:

  • The coaching course section of the site has moved to here. It now comes under the PitchVision Academy banner and is a full part of this area of the site. If you are enrolled, you can carry on as if nothing has happened. If you have not tried a course yet... why the heck not?
  • The performance analysis and online leagues section of PitchVision Academy has been moved to PitchVision Interactive. That means if you are looking for the data you uploaded from your PitchVision session you can find everything there. Please update your bookmarks.

Other than that, you just need to explore using the bars at the top and the side. Enjoy!

If you are new here...

If you are new to the site, it can get overwhelming. Don’t panic, it’s easy to get what you want.

If you have a specific problem or question the best place to start is in the “How to Use the PitchVision Academy Archives” page here, it has links to search in every way possible.

If you are looking for regular updates and advice you can find out how to get PitchVision Academy updates here.

Thanks for popping by. I’ll be around to help you if you need it, but until you do, get stuck in!

The new site looks really good. Much easier to navigate. One question: when will we see another John Hurley article?

Best Wishes

Robin Collins

Thanks Robin, good to see you and I'm glad you like what we have done with the place! John is very busy coaching so there are no plans for future articles.

Hey Dude

New look is very cool and chill, but the light green color is very light, sometimes it sparks in front of eyes.

I am very happy with the changes.

Very tidy David; I like it very much... was only going to spend a minute looking around but got a bit distracted... one minute turned into 45!

Could only find one thing that I would tweak; probably put the 'SEARCH SITE' box at the top... and maybe surround it in neon lights Laughing out loud.

Cheers Liz, we ummed and ahhed about that for ages (something has to be at the bottom) and decided that search is one thing people will look for a bit harder, so it can be lower down.

Little tip for anyone who wants to find the search box fast - hit ctrl-f and type search into the box. Boom.

A great facelift.

By the way, if anyone spots any glitches anywhere just let me know so we can tidy them up!

Thanks Alek.

I like the new and brand new Pitchvision site.
It is much more easy to navigate the site!

Overall , Great improvisation!

it would be good if the "recent comments" section was a bit more prominent, and contained the last 10 - 20 comments rather than just 5 or 6. Sometimes if there has been a flurry of activity I have no way of telling that people have replied to me.

The green writing is also a little difficult to read? Maybe make it just a shade darker?

What do you mean by prominent AB? The green looks OK to me but we can look at it if it's a problem.

Anyone else struggling with he green text?

Is the podcast still coming out today Dave?

Yep, a little later than normal, while cleaning up is done, but it's on the way (was up until 11pm editing it so don't say i new do anything for you!)

Green is good for me... on many levels... with and without specs!

I suspect the issue maybe with the colour balance on certain computers at the User's end rather than the website. With reference to Salman Yousuf's comment, I do not see a 'light' green. My greens are mid to dark and fortunately behave themselves Smiling.

Good man.

I mean make more of a feature of it - as I think its an important part of the site, and it highlights the growing community we have here. For example, I tend to log on once a day and read the new article, but if there are new comments, I will keep coming back every 20 minutes or so to read the discussion as it develops - if it was in a bigger box at the top of the page, then more people would be encouraged to comment, and the number of repeat visitors such as myself would grow exponentially.

I get you, it's kind of a catch 22 - we can't put everything at the top and different users have different priorities. Liz likes search, you like comments, one of our coaches was insistent on having a link to the courses section at the top. So hard choices have to be made.

Yeah, it doesn't necessarily have to be at the top, just expanded a bit - a bigger box with room for more comments? I agree that the search button should be high up as well.

TBH, I have not thought much about the 'RECENT COMMENTS' section and could not tell you whether it was included prior to revamp, but I do see where AB is coming from.

As an active member, it would be really handy for him to see where past posts are going and whether 'really past' posts have been reactivated. However, I also agree that it would not be aesthetically advantagous to occupy any more of the front page.

Is it not possible to include a macro on the title to take the user to another, dedicated, page with more posts and expanded content?

As for, "...one of our coaches was insistent on having a link to the courses section at the top", I don't know... coaches today Laughing out loud.

To be fair, I ageed. It is how we make money after all. Of course individuals can choose not to purchase, but hopefully some will otherwise we can't do the free stuff!

OK so feedback needed from everyone (especially AB): what do you think about a link saying "more comments" at the bottom that leads to a page with a longer list of comments?

That sounds good to me David.

I love the new design and the site does appear to be a lot quicker to load.

Still not fussed on the forum software but everything else is good! Thumbs up!
