The Reason Cricketers Need the New iPhone 5

Face it, your head has been turned by the new iPhone 5. It's the new hotness. It's sexy. It's GOLD.

Most of all, it's a game changing device.

Whatever you do as a cricketer, or coach, having a tiny but powerful computer right in your pocket opens up a world of opportunity. And with the new iPhone about to hit the shops, is the perfect time to buy.

So why exactly should you buy an iPhone 5 if you want to play better cricket?

iPhone as a practice tool

Imagine you are in the nets and working on you on drive. You are hitting balls, but you can't tell how your technique looks, especially with the coach not around to help.

In practice terms, you have no feedback loop and so you are not making the most of your net time.

Lucky for you the iPhone has a nifty HD camera that allows for slow motion video.

You can hit a ball and look at what happened, decide what change to make and hit again. Your practice session becomes a deliberate practice session and all because you had a phone in your pocket.

Sure it won't replace a good coach, or PV/VIDEO, but we are talking on-the-fly practice here. Even a casual session is a way to improve with an iPhone.

If you want to get really serious about stepping up your game, you can then upload your footage to PitchVision for Video Analysis.

And the Olloclip is a great accessory if the iPhone is your main camera. Which it is, because it's in your pocket all the time.

The extended brain

But to think of your phone as a handy camera misses the really cool part: The iPhone is a computer in your pocket that extends your brain.

Human minds are amazing creative machines, but they are really bad at certain of things. For example, memory is inaccurate at best (and often wrong). The iPhone extends your brain out so you can remember:

Anything that requires better memory than you can manage can be stuffed into an iPhone with an app like Evernote. You can have your whole life in front of you, even in the middle of a field if you so desire.

And with the improved battery life on the iPhone 5s and 5c, you can keep going all day too.

Improve your batting average

Wait though, it gets even better.

A recent study made batsmen who were next in to bat play suduko. They reported feeling more relaxed, yet alert while batting.

iPhone has suduko.

The theory is that playing a mathematical game keeps your right brain occupied with something other than cricket. This gives you space to pick line and length more quickly.

Now one study does not prove anything. However, it's interesting and if you have the phone in your pocket anyway...

Why not?

And heck, that's before we have even talked about the growing number of cricket apps you can get for this device. Way more than Android. While none are killer essentials, they are able to make a big difference, especially if you are a coach.

Everything, everywhere

Even the biggest technophobe can admit that knowledge is power.

While you can do a lot of this stuff with good old fashioned pen, paper and eyeballs, the iPhone does it so much better in one device that is automatically backed up (you can't say that about a notebook).

It's information in all angles: personally collected or sitting on the internet. And it's all right there waiting for you. The iPhone 5 is the best version yet of that dream.

Sir my age is about 14 years.I want to become a great batsman for team INDIA.
What should I do to achive my goal.

I have been doing this with a real phone with better camera. Windows Nokia 920. That the phone if you want good image of your practice or go even better Windows Nokia 1020.

The Nokia phones look great too. As do some Android devices from Samsung and HTC. You can go with whatever you like best of course. I don't think any of them will let you down.
